Sheena Phillips, composer and choral musician, has a track record of working with amateur singers on a wide range of material from early music to contemporary writing of many flavors. She moved to Columbus in 2000 from Edinburgh, Scotland, where she founded the award-winning Rudsambee company of singers, and has directed the Magpie Consort since her arrival here |
Sheena’s compositions are being commissioned and performed by many groups on both sides of the Atlantic, including:
- in the USA: the Choral Project (San Jose), Chicago A Cappella, Seattle Pro Musica, the South Bend Chamber Singers
(Indiana), University of Alabama (Birmingham) Concert Choir, Calliope Women’s Chorus (Minnesota), Hope College Chapel Choir (Michigan), Zephyr (Los Angeles)
- in the UK: the National Youth Choir of Scotland, Cappella Nova, the Dunedin Consort, Saffron Walden Choral Society, the Gathering Wave.
- in Ohio: the Lancaster Chorale, the Columbus Women’s Chorus, the Columbus Children’s Choir, the Knox Choraliers, First Congregational Church, and of course the Magpie Consort.
